Stitching Up A Storm (& feelin' the holiday spirit)

Hey guys!
Are you tired of Christmas roundups yet? What about my unexcused absences of late?

Sorry. I'm afraid the roundups aren't going anywhere for the next 12 days (12?!? TWELVE!!!!) but hopefully I won't be MIA for the rest of the month. We'll see...I'm terrible at saying things, and then they - hem - don't happen.

I bought these blue and red tote kits two years ago from Tuesday Morning, and left them in my closet until this weekend. Heh.

I don't usually use a bunch of kits, but I'm in a time crunch for Christmas gifts, so I thought why not? I dusted off my machine (I haven't used it in a whole year) and rediscovered the joy of sewing.

It's odd how every craft - but especially sewing - it's so easy to lose yourself in what you're making. The burr of the machine, the fabric sliding through your fingers...its almost like your hands take on a life of their own. Sewing is magic.

The kits were super easy to use, and the fabric is gorgeous, in both color schemes. Each one probably took me about 1.5 hours, and they were a nice distraction from, ya know, life.

I'm so pleased with how the totes turned out...I might just have to make one for myself if I can find the kits online. I didn't quite finish the blue one...if you look closely you might see a spare thread or ten.

My machine is a Bernette 46 Bernina. Her name is Carol, of course. I love her - she's gorgeous and vintage-looking and does her job well.

Decorating the Christmas tree is one of my favorite times of year (I know, we do it pretty late). The twinkling lights, the Christmasy aroma, and of course, the ornaments all make me realize that it really is the holiday season!

As you can see, I've been in the holiday spirit the whole day. Sorry for a rambling and inconsequential blog post - I'll get back to my beloved roundups next week.

I hope you had an appropriately festive weekend, and that you're anticipating Christmas as much as I am! Thanks for reading!
